A workshop in collaboration with Royal Antwerp Academy of Arts, Belgium and NPO De Kunstkliniek ‘URUSHI ~An Introduction in practice~’
We practiced the Roiro-nuri technique by applying a series of processes from the foundation layers to the coating layers on the wood substrate. On top of that, we experienced a simple decoration technique, Keshi Maki-e. Useing a variety of authentic tools to learn how to handle and maintain them. Classroom lectures included not only practice but also theory and materials studies. As an additional course, we also carried out Kintsugi and baking lacquer processes.
